We try to take advantage
As a species, we like to bet on long shots. We like win bigly.
Instead, we are losing. We mostly leave a trail of destruction in our wake as we blunder from generation to generation.
We’re pretty immature as a species. We don’t put our toys back when we are done with them. We don’t clean up our messes. We are bullies and take what we want without any regard for any other species or the systems that support life.
We are arrogant.
We have never had to actually worry about sustainability, so we haven’t developed the requisite awarenesses to be successful sustainably. We still are not worried about sustainability.
In the past, the natural world, our planet, always had more than enough of what we needed to keep growing and finding new territories and resources to exploit.
Now, it is looking like our planet — our only planet — will provide us with a trans-generational opportunity to develop the sensitivities necessary to survive sustainably.
It won’t be a rehearsal. We won’t have a chance to learn the script and practice our lines. It’s gonna be showtime!
It will be our greatest performance.
Perhaps the hero of the story will at long last, learn the lesson that has been eluding him for so long…
Coming to your life soon!
If we can change our minds…
